Privacy Policy
This describes what Stream-Cut collects, why, and what happens to it. It was written from the database schema rather than from a template, so it matches what the system actually stores.
The controller is Stream cut, a business operated by Ngninpieye Kenfou Armel and established in Cameroon. Contact: [email protected]. A postal address for formal notice is published on the Copyright page.
The short version
- There is no analytics and no tracking. No Google Analytics, no pixels, no advertising cookies, no third-party scripts watching you read this page.
- Your recordings stay on your own computer unless you choose to upload them. By default Stream-Cut cuts clips on your machine and only the clips travel.
- We never see your card. Paddle handles payment.
- Your viewers are not tracked. Tapping a reaction needs no account, and what it leaves behind is deleted within two minutes.
What we hold about you
Your account
Email address, a hash of your password (never the password), your display name if you set one, and when you verified your email. We also store which plan you are on, your subscription status and dates, your trial end date, and identifiers from Paddle that let us match a payment to your account.
We record which version of the Terms you accepted and when, because we have to be able to show what you agreed to.
Your settings
Your room code, your clip-branding logo and where it sits, whether captions and vertical export are on, your posting schedule rules, and whether viewer submissions are open and at what prices. If you connect Ko-fi or StreamElements, we store the credential you give us so those alerts can reach you.
Your content
Clips you generate, and stream recordings if you choose to upload them. Where captions are enabled, we also store the transcript of a clip — the words spoken in it — so captions can be restyled later and so you can search your own clips.
We do not watch, review or mine your content. It is read by the software that processes it and by you.
Technical records
Ordinary server logs, which include IP addresses, and records of actions like uploads and renders so the service can function and so abuse can be investigated.
What we hold about your viewers
When your audience opens your room code and taps reactions, there is no account and no login. Each phone gets an opaque identifier that exists only to stop one person flooding the meter and to count how many distinct people reacted. It is held in memory, it expires after two minutes, and it never reaches our database.
We do not know who your viewers are, and neither do you — the meter counts reactions, not people.
Somebody who pays to submit a video to you is different: to take their payment and show you their submission, we hold their email, their video, and what they wrote.
What is yours to answer for
Stream-Cut records what you point it at. That frequently includes other people — a guest on camera, a voice in the room, a viewer who submitted a video, somebody appearing in material you are reacting to.
You decide what to record and what to publish. We do not. For the content you create, you are the one responsible for having whatever permission is needed, for telling people what you are doing with it, and for answering anyone who objects. We process that content on your instructions so that the service can run, and for nothing else.
If somebody contacts us about material in one of your clips, we may pass their request to you, because you are the person who can answer it. If a request concerns material you uploaded and we are required to act, we will.
The same applies to your audience. Opening a room code invites people to interact with your stream; what you then do with those reactions on your broadcast is yours. We keep the reaction data for two minutes and never learn who anyone is.
Why we are allowed to hold it
For people in the EU and UK, the lawful bases are: performing our contract with you (your account, your content, your subscription); legal obligation (tax and accounting records, copyright notices); and legitimate interests (keeping the service secure, preventing abuse, and the rate-limiting identifier described above).
We do not rely on consent for anything, because we do not do anything that would require it — there is no marketing profiling and no advertising.
Who else sees it
| Who | What they get | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Paddle | Your payment details and email | They are the Merchant of Record and take the payment. We never receive your card. |
| Object storage | Your clips and uploaded recordings | Where the files are kept. |
| Resend | Your email address and the message | Sending verification and account email. |
| Error reporting | Crash details, if enabled | Diagnosing faults. Credentials and payment signatures are stripped before anything is sent. |
That is the complete list. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers, because we have none.
Where it is held
Our servers and storage are outside Cameroon, and if you are in the EU or UK your data is processed outside your country. Where that is the case we rely on the standard contractual clauses our providers offer.
How long we keep it
Content is deleted on a schedule that depends on your plan, set out in section 4 of the Terms. Briefly: uploaded recordings last between 1 and 7 days after their clips are made; clips last between 7 and 90 days, and downloading one shortens it.
Account records are kept while your account exists. When you close it, your content is deleted. Records we are required to keep — invoices, tax records, copyright notices and their outcomes — are kept for as long as the law requires, and nothing else is.
Server logs are kept for a short period and then discarded.
Cookies
We set no tracking cookies and run no analytics. The dashboard keeps your sign-in token in your browser's local storage so you stay signed in; that is necessary for the service to work and is not used to follow you anywhere.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, delete it, or give you a copy in a portable form. You can object to processing we base on legitimate interests. Most of this you can do yourself from your account; for anything else, write to [email protected] and we will answer within 30 days.
If you are in the EU or UK and you think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to your national data protection authority. We would rather you told us first.
Two limits, stated so they are not a surprise. We will check that a request really comes from you before acting on it — a deletion request is a way to destroy somebody's work if we act on it without asking who sent it. And a request that is manifestly unfounded or excessive, particularly one repeated over and over, may be refused or charged for, as the law allows.
Deletion does not reach everything. Where we are required to keep a record — an invoice, a tax record, a copyright notice and what we did about it — we keep it for as long as the law says and use it for nothing else. We also keep what we need to defend a legal claim.
Children
Stream-Cut is not for under-16s and we do not knowingly hold their data. If you believe a child has an account, tell us and we will remove it.
When we have to hand something over
We may disclose information where the law requires it, where a court or a competent authority orders it, or where it is necessary to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim — including a copyright claim about material you uploaded. Where we are permitted to tell you, we will.
Security
Passwords are hashed, never stored. Traffic is encrypted in transit. Stream keys and integration credentials are treated as secrets: they are not printed in logs or error messages. Access to production data is limited to what running the service requires.
No service is perfectly secure, and nobody can honestly promise otherwise. We take the measures described above; we do not guarantee that they will defeat every attack. If we discover a breach affecting your personal data we will tell you and the relevant authority as the law requires.
Your account is yours to protect. Choose a password you use nowhere else, and tell us promptly if you think somebody else has reached your account.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will email you before it takes effect. The version and date at the top tell you which one you are reading.
